Religion and Morality
Found a nice entry which led me to a nice blog.
For myself, I have long been giving up religion since ending highschool and starting college. Can’t I be a humanist with morals? I just can’t see myself being locked-up in an organized religion and being honest to myself at the same time. I never did feel “his” presence. It always makes me feel sick seeing people blab about receiving graces, thanking their god for all the goodness and “carrying their live’s crosses” and being self-righteous, standing in their holier-than-thou stance.
It’s a big step to take when you are born to a religion, educated in the Catholic tradition from preschool to college … to being a freethinker.
This is me. I respect what you believe in no matter how much pain and hardship religion has caused throughout the history of mankind. I respect that. After all, we are all humans and for me, humanity is the highest thing I can hold on to.
As for the agnostics? Grow up and make up your minds.
Jed, hope you don’t mind me asking, but how are you guys managing a relationship between (what I assume is) a religious person (your wife) and a non-religious person such as yourself?

Hi Peter. Well of course she didn’t like it. But she knows me enough that I never go into things just for the heck of it. She respects that and I respect her. She thinks it’s just a phase and I’ll eventually get over it. I still go with her to church to hear mass. It’s the only condition she requires. I’m like “Sure why not.” I really see no problem there, as I see it’s just some ritual that’s harmless anyway. I know it’s a big deal for people knowing someone who doesn’t believe in god. No happy afterlife and harps for me, but I I’m free and for me that’s more important than anything else. At least I’m no devil-worshiper , because not having a god takes away the devil entirely
